508. One Piece Odyssey, Overwatch 2, Returnal
Monday Jan 16, 2023
Monday Jan 16, 2023
No, we haven’t gone back in time for this week’s podcast, we really have been playing Returnal and Overwatch 2. But thankfully, Lyle has saved the day and kept us hip, modern, and current, thanks to playing through One Piece Odyssey.
Returnal is being played because of our Patreon Discord, which inspired Adam to go back, while Overwatch 2 has finally grabbed Chris Hyde (and Lyle, a bit) and the gang are regularly playing. But do they actually like it? Meanwhile One Piece Odyssey is the big game out this week, and Lyle not only previewed it, but has now played through it for review: does it stand up to what he originally said in the preview… is it “a great start to 2023” like he said it could be?

507. High on Life, Sports Story, Need for Speed Unbound
Monday Jan 09, 2023
Monday Jan 09, 2023
How do you follow up ending the year with 12+ hours of podcast audio? You just carry on, and do another podcast, that's how.
While we did get to chat about both High on Life and Chained Echoes for the GOTY shows, neither were quite released early enough to allow us all to have played them. So along with Sports Story, the gang are all caught up now and ready to dish the opinions out, while also not forgetting Need for Speed Unbound, which snuck out late in the year, and we never quite managed to chat about.

GOTY 2022: Day Five - Most anticipated of 2023, Game of the Year 2022
Friday Dec 23, 2022
Friday Dec 23, 2022
It's all come down to this: the final day of the GOTY 2022 podcast awards from us. A top 10 of 2022, and a top 5 most anticipated of 2023.
For years now we've been looking forward to Breath of the Wild 2, which we know now is called The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. But are we still hyped for it? What about Street Fighter 6? Is Resident Evil 4 a game that still has that pulling power even in 2023, and the same could be asked of Dead Space! It's time to count down the top 10 games of 2022, then it's time to sleep for a good few weeks. It's been real.
There's a load of ways you can keep up to date on all things GOTY 2022 here, this December, on GodisaGeek, but it's worth noting you can hear all the episodes a week early, every year, if you become a Patreon of the site. This helps fund podcasts like this, but so much more, so consider it, please?
On that note, if you want to discuss along as the week plays out, you can do so on our Discord, though be aware that outside of the "General" chat, it's all for Patreon-members, who might be a week ahead of you by now! Alternatively, make you subscribe to us on YouTube for the video version (also delivered a week early to Patreons), and click the bell button so you're notified when the new episodes go live each day.
If you don't want to do any of that, we get it: times are hard. The podcast is a labour of love, though, so consider buying us a coffee, or hell, just throw a donation at us on PayPal: whatever you value the pod at!
Right, that's enough begging for one day, let's get on with day one! Enjoy!

GOTY 2022: Day Four - Best story, Best moment
Thursday Dec 22, 2022
Thursday Dec 22, 2022
Day four means we're nearing the end, but it's spoiler-day, as it's time for the GOTY 2022 podcast discussion on best story and best moment.
Best moment has traditionally been a section where our favourite stories get the full breakdown, so it's worth trying to get the biggest games played before you listen to this episode. God of War, Horizon, all the big boys are here, but there's a lot of little guys that provided brilliant stories and moments in 2022, too.

GOTY 2022: Day Three - Best multiplayer, Best new character
Wednesday Dec 21, 2022
Wednesday Dec 21, 2022
Day three of the GOTY 2022 podcast deliberations is here, and it's time to discuss playing with others, and the best new character.
It's been such a weird year for multiplayer, with games being brilliant but also upsetting, and given the amount of new IP and entries into huge, long-running franchises, you can be there's some interesting names on the list of best new character. You can also bet Mick will try to shoehorn Destiny 2 in here, again, somehow.

GOTY 2022: Day Two - Best audio, Best visuals
Tuesday Dec 20, 2022
Tuesday Dec 20, 2022
We're into day two of the GOTY 2022 celebrations podcast, and it's time to discuss best audio, and best visuals.
This is usually the shortest day as our team is focussed on other areas, but best audio and best visuals this year might end up being a car crash due to how ridiculous some of the candidates look and sound.

Monday Dec 19, 2022
Well here we are again, with the first day of the GOTY 2022 awards from GodisaGeek – a plethora of hours of podcasts await you, friend.
As is tradition on day one of the podcast, the first three awards up for debate for GOTY 2022 are best re-release (HD remaster, remakes, etc), nicest surprise (something that happened, or a game that came from left field somehow), and biggest disappointment (a more nebulous award, which can be a game we wanted to be good that was not, or something negative that happened in the gaming space in 2022).

505. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, The Devil in Me, Marvel’s Midnight Suns
Monday Nov 21, 2022
Monday Nov 21, 2022
It's podcast time, and we've got some huge games to talk about, like the new Pokemon title: the ninth generation is here. Adam has played all of Pokemon Scarlet, while Chris Hyde has played all of The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me.
Has Mick played all of Marvel's Midnight Suns? No. But he's allowed to give some brief impressions on it so far, so that's pretty exciting.

504. God of War Ragnarok, Sonic Frontiers, Ghost Song
Monday Nov 14, 2022
Monday Nov 14, 2022
It's big-games season on the podcast. With God of War Ragnarok out now, and Sonic Frontiers also greeting the world, the biggest names in gaming are trying to wrestle coin from your wallet. Are they worth your time and money? We had to get Chris White in to talk God of War, of course, and Lyle and Adam have both been playing Sonic Frontiers, so can dish the dirt.
Meanwhile, indie games are still coming, and Humble Games continues its record with Ghost Song, another really nice title that nobody seems to be talking about, but we will! We had to pre-record this episode in advance due to timing issues, but hopefully we still got your questions in ahead of time and answered accordingly.
